New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has extended the deadline for cancellation of PRS counter tickets for the journey period from March 21, 2020 to July 31, 2020 and receiving refund from any counter from 6 months to 9 months. This rule will be applicable only on tickets purchased for the trains with scheduled time schedules which were canceled by the Railways. 139 or in case of cancellation of ticket through IRCTC website, the time limit for submission of tickets at any ticket counter has been extended up to 9 months from the date of journey.
After the completion of the deadline of 6 months from the date of travel, many passengers will have deposited tickets through the TDR or through the normal application to the Claims Office of the Railway Divisions, they will also get the full fare of the PRS counter ticket.
Detailed guidelines regarding cancellation of tickets and refund of fares were also issued earlier in view of epidemic due to Covid-19. As per the instructions, the time limit for submission of canceled PRS counter ticket for trains canceled by the railways was increased from 3 days (excluding the day of journey) to 6 months and cancellation of tickets from the 139 or IRCTC website In the situation, the time limit for receiving refund from any counter was also extended to 6 months from the date of travel.
