New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the purchase of 1 lakh portable oxygen concentrator from PM Cares Fund. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss measures necessary to improve liquid medical oxygen (LMO) supply for Kovid management. The Prime Minister directed that these oxygen concentrators should be procured as soon as possible and made available to the states with more issues.
In addition to the 713 PSA plants already approved under the PM Cares Fund, 500 new Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plants have been approved from the PM Cares Fund in today’s meeting.
These PSA plants will increase the supply of liquid medical oxygen to district headquarters and hospitals located in Tier 2 cities. These 500 PSA plants will be set up with the transfer of indigenous technology developed by DRDO and CSIR to domestic manufacturers.
The establishment of PSA plants and the purchase of portable oxygen concentrators will increase oxygen supply to groups in line with demand, addressing current logistical challenges in transporting oxygen from plants to hospitals.
