New Delhi: The role of farmer leaders could also be investigated, with Delhi Police intensifying its investigation into a farmer protest toolkit shared by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg earlier this month, sources have said. Video communication app Zoom, sources said, was also attended by activists Disha Ravi, Nikita Jacob, Shantanu to get details of the attendees at a virtual meeting on 11 January.

All three attended the meeting before Republic Day to garner online support for the farmers’ tractor rally that landed in chaos in some parts of the national capital. Disha Ravi was arrested last week, facing charges of conspiracy and treason. Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk are also wanted in the case related to the online document.

The Delhi Police is also trying to investigate funding in the toolkit case, with sources saying they have not yet received a response from Google, which is being investigated.

Twenty-two-year-old activist Disha Ravi’s arrest last week from Bengaluru was condemned by farmers and opposition leaders. Delhi Police said yesterday that all protocols were followed during the arrest.

Today, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava told reporters, “We have registered cases related to the Republic Day violence. The investigation is going on in the toolkit case. Many more details are yet to be revealed.”

Disha Ravi is arrested after following all the proper procedures. Whether someone is 22 or 50 years old, the law treats everyone equally. The court was in agreement with the decision to arrest him … And we were granted remand for five days.

According to the report of the news agency, last week the farmers’ cantonment organization Samyukta Kishan Morcha demanded a high-level judicial inquiry into the violence during the tractor rally in Delhi, and “false” cases were filed against the farmers.

More than 100 farmers were arrested in the tractor rally violence, demonstrator representative Ravinder Singh told reporters, SKM “will provide legal and financial support to all the arrested farmers”.

Earlier this month, tweets by pop icons Rihanna and Ms. Thunberg pitted farmers’ protests against three new agricultural laws globally.

However, in an unprecedented response, the Center said: “Before commenting on such cases, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand.”
