MG Motor has several products around the world and the HS SUV is its 5-seater premium family SUV that is a plug in hybrid. If launched in India, the HS will be positioned below the Gloster and will compete with 5-seater premium SUVs like the Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Kodiaq.
The new HS is bigger than the previous generation and after making its debut in the UK, it is now a new-look big SUV. It gets a large two-part grille and a slanted roof. At the rear, there are sharp headlamps that give the SUV an aggressive look. The interiors too get features like twin 12.3-inch screens and 360 degree cameras and more space.
Other features include dual zone air conditioning, ADAS, heated front seats that are electric and more. Interestingly, the plug-in hybrid version gets a 1.5-litre turbo petrol as well as a bigger electric motor while the total power is said to be close to 300 bhp. It is also quite efficient for an SUV in its class.
The EV-only range is also 120 km. Transmission options for the base turbo petrol include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT transmission. The MG HS is a premium SUV that could work in hybrid form and it will be another premium SUV positioned above the ZS but below the Gloster while the 5-seater will be in the premium SUV segment.
For now, MG will launch a CUV in India with the Cloud while it recently showcased the Cyberster two-door sports car. MG has said that it will focus on EVs and will launch multiple products considering hybrids.
