UP SIR Draft Voter List 2026: The Election Commission has released the draft revised voter list for Uttar Pradesh, announcing the removal of 2.89 crore voters after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The Election Commission stated that over 81 percent of the voters from the previous list have been retained. It further said that when the SIR process began in October 2025, the total number of voters in Uttar Pradesh was 15.44 crore, which has now come down to 12.56 crore after the revision. However, it clarified that the final list will be released on March 6, and affected voters can raise objections to the removal of their names until February 6.
Providing details, the Election Commission said that of the total voters removed, 2.17 crore have shifted to other locations, 49 lakh have died, and 25.47 lakh have registered in more than one place. Voters can also check their status on their phones using the ECINET app. According to the Election Commission, most of the voters have been removed from urban areas of the state, including the capital Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, and Prayagraj.
Rinwa said, “If someone wants to get their name removed from the list or if a family member has passed away, Form 7 needs to be filled. If there is any incorrect information or the voter has shifted, Form 8 needs to be filled. The first step is to check your name in the draft list published today. Voters have one month to do this.”
He further added, “The notice phase, decision on counting of forms, and disposal of claims and objections will be done from January 6 to February 27, 2026. The final publication of the electoral roll of Uttar Pradesh will be done on March 6, 2026.”
The Election Commission was supposed to publish the draft list on December 11; However, when it was observed that approximately 30 million voters were being removed from the list, an additional 15 days were requested.
