New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar gave a sharp reply on Friday to a Pakistani journalist who asked a question regarding terrorism at the UN headquarters in New York.
Responding to the Pakistani journalist’s question, Jaishankar said, “A terrorist nation is asking me this question. It’s unbelievable.”
Jaishankar and Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti were addressing the press regarding the ‘Group of Friends’ on ‘Shipping and Seafarers’ Safety’ when the journalist stood up and asked, “When will your government stop promoting terrorism in Pakistan?”
Subsequently, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, intervened and told the journalist, “You have got your answer. You have heard your answer clearly.”
This incident occurred a day after an Indian journalist had asked Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a pointed question while he was entering the UN building: “When will you stop harboring terrorists?”
