Congress leaders were answering questions during a session organized by historian Dipesh Chakraborty when the tremors were felt. “By the way, I think during the session a quiet Gandhi was heard saying that the earthquake was going on.” “My whole room is shaking. Anyway ..” Gandhi said, going on with his response in the matter in a matter-of-fact manner.

The video of the session is going viral on social media with his fans and followers praising Gandhi for keeping his calm and going ahead with the session even during the earthquake.

I like how @RahulGandhi “btw I think there is a #earthquake there, my whole room is shaking in the middle of her conversation with the Chicago students” and then just continued with her answer. #InConversationWithRahulGandhi

Tremors shook Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) and were felt as far as Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, which continued for several seconds. Till now there is no news of destruction or any casualties.

The storm was also reported from Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. In Srinagar, video footage shows people running out of their homes shaking from the ground.
