In a coordinated effort, Kulgam Police, in collaboration with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has successfully destroyed two terrorist cells, leading to the arrest of five persons linked to Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to officials, the operation resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition.
Those detained have been identified as Adil Hussain Wani, Suhail Ahmed Dar, Aitmad Ahmed Laway, Mehraj Ahmed Lone, and Sabzar Ahmed Khar. A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including two pistols, three hand grenades, one UBGL, two pistol magazines, 12 pistol rounds, and 21 AK-47 rounds, were recovered from their possession, the statement said.
“In this regard, a case has been registered at Kaimoh and police station under relevant sections of the law,” ANI quoted the police as saying.
This action on the terrorist module was taken a few days after the encounter ended on the seventh day following the recovery of the body of local terrorist Uzair Khan in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, police said the search operation will continue as many areas have yet to be evacuated.
“Search operations will continue as many areas are still intact… We would appeal to the public not to go there because there are many grenades. We had information about two to three terrorists. We may find a third body. May you meet somewhere.” Therefore we will complete the search operation. We have found the body of the Lashkar commander and recovered it, we can also find another body. We are searching for the third body,” ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said while speaking to reporters.
