Australian Open: Sania Mirza-Rohan Bopanna pair reached final

India’s Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna have reached the mixed doubles final of the Australian Open. The Indian pair defeated third seeds Neil Skupski of Great Britain and Desirea Krawczyk of USA 7-6(5) 6-7(5) 10-6 in the semi-finals. Earlier, the Indian pair got a walkover against the Latvian and Spanish pair of Jelena Ostapenko and David Vega Hernandez in their quarterfinal match.

The Indian pair defeated Uruguay and Japanese pair of Ariel Behar and Makato Ninomiya 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) to reach the quarterfinals. Sania has already announced that this will be her last Grand Slam. After qualifying for the final, the top Indian tennis star will be dreaming of another Grand Slam title.

The Indian pair made a bright start to the match and won the first set by a margin of 7-6. However, he lost the second set by a margin of 6–7. After losing the first set in this tournament, the Indian pair came back brilliantly and won the third set by a margin of 10-6 to enter the final.

The pair of Sania and Bopanna have lost just one set in the mixed doubles so far. In the semi-final match, he had to face defeat in the second set by a close margin. The men’s doubles pair of Bopanna and Matthew Ebden had made a first round exit. Sania and Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina lost in the second round of women’s doubles.
