Bhupendra Patel will be the new Chief Minister of Gujarat after Vijay Rupani’s resignation

After the resignation of Vijay Rupani on Saturday, BJP has announced the new Chief Minister of Gujarat. Bhupendra Patel will be the new CM of Gujarat. The announcement was made after the BJP Legislature Party meeting in Gandhinagar.

Bhupendra Patel is an elected representative from Ghatlodia Assembly Constituency of Gujarat. He had won by a margin of over 1,17,000 votes against Shashikant Patel of the Congress Party. This seat was occupied by UP Governor and former Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel.

Earlier on Saturday, in a sudden announcement, Vijay Rupani had announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat. The announcement was made after the media was immediately summoned at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar.

Vijay Rupani told the media after meeting Governor Acharya Devvrat, ‘I have resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat. “I have expressed my desire to work in the party organization under the leadership of the Prime Minister and under the guidance of the BJP chief,” he said.

The reasons for the resignation are not entirely clear, but it is being speculated that his health may have contributed to the decision. Bhupendra Patel is the third BJP chief minister in the state after Narendra Modi became the chief minister.
