He refused repeatedly to think about Ranjana as his wife. After this, he adopted Ranjana and decided to require care of him. After this, Udit married Deepa Narayan Jha. He started a relationship with Deepa and married her in 1985. Deepa features a son with Udit, whom we all know as Aditya Narayan.
