Center takes necessary steps to recognised Indian driving license internationally

New Delhi: For some time, the Government of India was receiving complaints that many countries are not giving recognition to Indian driving license. On receiving this information, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has advised the states and union territories to stamp the first page of the International Driving Permit (IDP) issued by them.

Let me tell you that if you travel abroad or go for a job there, then you need an International Driving License. However, there are some countries where you do not need an International Driving License for driving. Your license made in India is also valid there.

In this regard, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways advised the States and Union Territories to stamp on the first page of the International Driving Permit (IDP) issued by them with reference to the notice of the International Conference of Road Traffic dated 19 September 1949. Has given Through various public grievances, the Ministry has come to know that many countries are not accepting international driving permits issued to Indian citizens. It has come to the notice of the Ministry that, according to the International Conference on Road Traffic on 19 September 1949, the authorities of many countries have asked for verification of International Driving Permit.

In an advisory issued by the Ministry to all Transport Secretaries, Commissioners of States and Union Territories, they have also provided a copy of the stamp for the Regional Transport Office-RTO to be kept on record and to allow the permit to be accepted internationally.
