Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat launches Joint Logistics Node in Mumbai

New Delhi: All future wars will be fought by the three armies in a unified manner. In order for our Armed Forces to successfully conduct such operations, it is necessary that they are provided with sound logistic support at all levels of warfare.

With this in mind, Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat launched the third Joint Logistics Node (JLN) in Mumbai via video conferencing from New Delhi on 1 April 2021 and dedicated services.

It will provide integrated logistics cover to the JLN Armed Forces for their small arms-ammunition, rations, fuel, general store goods, civilian transport, aviation veneers and other goods and engineering cooperation to coordinate the efforts of their operations Will also provide. Speaking on the occasion, General Bipin Rawat said, “As the establishment and operation of JLN, this first step towards the integration of the logistics of our three armies was very important. To help improve the functioning and impact of these nodes, it is very important to accept each other’s boundaries and learn from each other’s strengths and best practices. ”

Apart from financial savings, this initiative will also benefit in saving manpower and economical utilization of resources. CDS also praised the tri-warriors who worked with their heart and soul for this node and said, “I urge everyone to strive for excellence in our venture so that we can fully To form a unified, modern and future-ready self-reliant army. ”The successful operation of these three JLNs will prove to be an important step to start the JLN in different parts of the country.

JLN will promote joint interoperability between the armies and will go a long way to improve the logistics process of the armed forces, as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions to increase jointness between the three armies. This important step is a sign of strengthening the integrated logistics in the Armed Forces and will enable them to work seamlessly in all areas of war and in all other areas.

The CDS also emphasized the need to work to integrate with national logistics on the occasion, which has been encouraged in recent times by saying that it is improving the infrastructure and logistics at the national level in the armed forces. Will benefit He added, “Through this we will be able to bear the real weight of the efforts of the ‘whole nation’ in adverse circumstances.” He urged the armies to cut costs as well as make concerted efforts for modernization.

Under the aegis of the Integrated Defense Staff Headquarters (Headquarters IDS), the Joint Operations Division (JOD) took the first concrete step towards logistics integration of the three armies by actively establishing the JLN. The government approved the establishment of JLN in Mumbai, Guwahati and Port Blair on 12 October 2020. JLN has started from 1 January 2021 at Guwahati and Tri-Army, Andaman and Nicobar Command, Port Blair.

Senior officers of the three armies were present at the inauguration of the virtually organized JLN which gives realization to the unification of the three armies. On this occasion, General Bipin Rawat re-issued the permanent operating procedure of JLN.
