Corona Update: Active cases in the country continue to decline; 2.54 lakhs after 179 days

New Delhi: There is a steady decline in the number of total active cases in the country. Today this number has come down to 2.54 (2,54,254) lakhs. This number is the lowest after 179 days. The total number of active cases as of 6 July 2020 was 2,53,287. India’s current active cases contribute only 2.47 percent of the total positive cases.

The number of daily new cases in the country has been around 20,000 in recent times. In the last 24 hours, 20,035 new cases were registered, while 23,181 patients have been cured during this period. For the last 35 days, there is a steady decline in active cases due to the recovery of more patients than in daily new cases.

The number of patients recovering from Covid has been about 99 lakhs (98,83,461). The gap between cured cases and active cases is steadily increasing. Now it has increased to more than 96 lakhs (96,29,207). The number of new patients has improved as compared to new cases. Today, the recovery rate is 96.08 percent.

77.61 percent of the new patients recovering belong to 10 states / UTs. The maximum number of 5,376 new patients in a single day has been cured in Kerala. After this, 3,612 and 1,537 new patients have been cured in Maharashtra and West Bengal respectively.

80.19 percent of new cases are from 10 states / UTs.

Kerala has the highest number of 5215 daily new cases. The number of new patients in Maharashtra was 3,509 yesterday.

In the last 24 hours, 256 cases of death have been reported.

80.47 percent of cases of new patients are related to 10 states / UTs. Maharashtra has the highest number of deaths (58), while Kerala and West Bengal lost 30 and 29 lives respectively.

Less than 300 patients have died every day for the past 7 days. This has ensured low mortality. The current death rate is 1.45 percent.

The 5 states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Delhi contribute 63 percent of the total deaths in the country.
