Mumbai: Actress Deepika Padukone has won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for ‘Best Actor’ at the prestigious award ceremony held on Saturday. The star-studded night, held long after the Covid-19 epidemic, has honored talented artists for their outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. Deepika Padukone has won the ‘Best Actor’ award for her strong performance in her remarkable film Chhapak.
Deepika, who plays the protagonist in the film, has also made her debut as a producer with this film.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is based on real-life acid attack Survivor Lakshmi, who was attacked at the age of 15 by an alleged lover in 2005. Lakshmi had to undergo several surgeries. Later, she took on the task of helping acid attack survivors and promoted campaigns to prevent such attacks. Lakshmi is a well-known lawyer who provides rigorous punishments in acid attack cases.
Meanwhile, on the work front, she will be seen in Shakun Batra’s hitherto untitled romantic drama film opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey.
Along with this, Deepika Padukone will also produce and star in the remake of the American comedy film The Intern and will appear alongside Prabhas in the Pan-India film starring Nag Ashwin. In November 2020, he has started shooting for YRF’s next project Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan and is also set to star in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter alongside Hrithik Roshan which is scheduled for release in September 2022.
