Delhi Traffic Police issues traffic advisory on idol immersion, Burning effigy of Ravana

New Delhi: Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for Durga idol immersion to be held on October 24.

The event will be attended by members of various Durga Puja committees and dedicated followers who will gather from across the city to immerse the idols of Goddess Durga at several river Yamuna ghats.

According to the advisory, “The main ghats where the idols of Goddess Durga will be immersed are as follows. “Yamuna Ghat, Yamuna Bazaar, Yamuna Ghat, Wazirabad, Yamuna Ghat, Qudesiya Ghat and Geeta Ghat (near Chandgi Ram Akhara), Yamuna Ghat in Central Delhi, ITO (Elephant Ghat). In the eastern district, Geeta Colony and Yamuna Ghat of Mayur Vihar.”

It further said, “The advisory states that apart from the above ghats, small scale immersions will also be done in Hyderpur Canal, Bawana Canal, Bhalswa Lake and various water bodies in Delhi.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police has asked to avoid Netaji Subhash Marg, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Marg and Nishadraj Marg (New Daryaganj Road) from 1300 hrs to 2100 hrs on Tuesday due to special traffic arrangements.

Three grand Ramleelas are being organized in Delhi by Luv Kush Ram Leela Committee, Religious Ram Leela Committee and Neo Religious Ram Leela Committee. The festivities are taking place at Madhav Das Park and 15 August Park in front of the Red Fort from October 15 and will start at 6:00 pm daily till October 25.

Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road, Connaught Place Outer Circle, Minto Road, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg.

2:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Ring Road/Outer Ring Road from Rajghat to Burari via ISBT, Majnu Ka Tila, Boulevard Road, Wazirabad Road including Wazirabad Bridge, Yamuna Bridge-Vikas Marg.

01:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Chittaranjan Park, Outer Ring Road from Chirag Delhi Flyover to Mathura Road, Maa Anand Mai Marg, Josip Broz Tito Marg, Nehru Place

03:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Pushta Road Gandhi Nagar, Khajuri Pushta Road, Sonia Vihar Pushta Road, Mathura Road, G.D. Birla Marg (Road No. 13A)

Diversions

  1. Commercial vehicles and buses coming from Mukarba Chowk side will not be allowed on Wazirabad bridge and will be directed towards ISBT bridge from 12:00 noon.
  2. Commercial vehicles and buses coming from Trans Yamuna towards Ring Road (Wazirabad Bridge) will be diverted from Khajuri Khas Chowk towards Shastri Park on Pusta Road from 02:00 pm.
  3. Yamuna back road from Kalindi Kunj towards Jaitpur will remain one way. Traffic going towards Kalindi Kunj from Jaitpur side will be directed towards Kachchi Colony Road, Agra Canal.
  4. On exiting Kalindi Kunj Ghat, all empty vehicles will take mandatory left turn at Jaitpur Pushta and use Kachchi Colony Road on Agra Canal.

Parking
Devotees should avoid parking their vehicles on the roadside near the ghats. Only limited parking is available near the wharves/onshore at the following locations:

  1. Near U-turn, near Sanyasa Ashram, ISBT on Shahdara Loop from Math side
  2. Qudesiya Ghat/Geeta Ghat ISBT
  3. Hathi Ghat
  4. Kalindi Kunj
  5. Mayur Vihar Extension Ghat

Durga Puja is an annual festival that honors the Hindu goddess Durga and celebrates her victory over Mahishasura. During the nine-day Navratri festival, devotees worship Goddess Durga in her nine incarnations to seek her blessings.

There are nine forms of Goddess Durga which are worshiped on every day of Navratri. People observe ritual fasts, recite verses dedicated to each goddess and wear new clothes. Offer food and clean your houses during these nine days.
