Former cricketer Dean Jones died of heart attack in Mumbai

New Delhi: Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones died in Mumbai on Thursday after suffering a heart attack. He was 59 years old. Jones was in Mumbai as a commentator for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. According to information, his fellow commentator Brett Lee tried to give him CPR but was unsuccessful. On Thursday morning, Jones had breakfast with Brett Lee and another commentator, Nikhil Chopra. Jones had a Major Heart Attack in his hotel lobby.

Jones made his international debut in 1984. He played a total of 52 Tests and 164 ODIs in his career. Jones has been very famous for his commentary. The cricket world is shocked by the news of his death. He was in Mumbai at the time of his death and was associated with the broadcast of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He scored 3,631 runs in 52 Tests at an average of 46.55, with 11 centuries and 14 economies. He scored 6,068 runs in 164 ODI matches. He scored 7 centuries and 46 half-centuries in ODIs and averaged 44.61. He was counted among the best ODI players of his time. Dean Jones was part of the IPL official broadcaster commentary panel and was in Mumbai for that reason. Dean Jones had scored two double centuries in Test cricket in his career, including a 210-run knock against Chennai in 1986 (then Madras).

Jones was also very active on social media. Apart from being a great batsman, he was also a great cricket expert. He used to give his opinion on cricket teams and players from all over the world. All veteran cricketers have mourned Jones’ death.
