Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal on Sunday praised the country’s economic growth and said that now global leaders are saying that India has now become a leopard from an elephant. He also said that the time has come for India to change its slogan from ‘Hamara Samay Aayega’ to ‘Hamara Samay Aayega’ (When our time comes, our time has come).
In December 2022, India assumed the presidency of the G20, a grouping of 19 countries and the European Union. This comes at a time when India has emerged as the fastest growing large economy. China, which was close, has faltered due to a combination of factors including Covid. The US and other developed countries are staring at low growth and recession due to the measures taken during Covid – excessive spending.
In the first LinkedIn post of the year 2023, the Vedanta boss said it is now India’s turn to be the captain as it leads the G20 and works with other influential countries to solve the world’s problems.
He said that India’s G20 chairmanship could not have come at a better time. “As I always say, India is in a good spot – we are the 5th largest economy, with the 3rd largest startup ecosystem, and over 84,000 start-ups operating in 656 districts,” he said. .
Be it a simple selfie lesson or a start-up, the youth of India are indeed showing the world how it is done, he said.
Aggarwal wrote, “Earlier, when I used to meet world leaders, they always used to say that India is a big market…and now they say that India has turned from an elephant to a leopard.”
The Vedanta chief praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that under his guidance, India has created an environment where more and more youth have become job creators from job seekers.
“Women are already joining the workforce, I can see and feel it every day in all my companies. It’s good. They have always been the backbone of our country, from my mother to Kiran and Priya, There are examples in my life. Too,” he said.
With the new year bringing bigger responsibilities and bigger ambitions for India, he said he has no doubt that the country will skyrocket. He wrote, “I have a big smile on my face as I type this… Waqt aa gaya ki India apna time aayega se apna time aayega hai.”
