Here’s what progress on expressway to assuage travelling time to 12 hours from Delhi to Mumbai

New Delhi. The construction work of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which will take 12 hours from Delhi to Mumbai, is going on in full swing. The entire work is being done in two phases. Delhi to Vadodara and Vadodara to Mumbai. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari informed about the progress of the first phase expressway from Delhi to Vadodara.

Nitin Gadkari shared information with photos in social media. He told that this world class expressway will be helpful in the economic progress of New India. Delhi to Mumbai 8-lane expressway will connect the country’s capital Delhi with the financial capital Mumbai.

Expressway will pass through here

Delhi Mumbai Expressway will start from Rajiv Chowk in Haryana, Gurugram and will go to Mumbai via Mewat, Jaipur Kota, Bhopal, Ahmedabad. According to the Ministry of Road Transport, it will take only 12 hours instead of 20 hours to go from Delhi to Mumbai. In this way people will be able to go easily by their private vehicles from the expressway. This will not only save their time, but will also reduce people’s dependence on trains and flights.

Distance will decrease

In such a situation, people will be able to opt for the road route instead of the train. At present, there is a distance of 1450 km from Delhi-Mumbai road. This distance from the expressway will be reduced to 1350. The target is to make this express ready by January 2023. The Mumbai-Delhi Expressway will be extended to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).

Freight cost will be less

After the introduction of the 1350 km long expressway, there will be a saving of 8.76 liters per day and about 320 million liters of petrol annually. According to the Ministry of Road Transport, the cost of transporting goods through this expressway will be reduced. In this way, there will be a saving of 8 to 9 percent in logistics expenses in the expressway and nearby cities.

12 lane can be done if needed

According to the National Highway Authority of India, the expressway has been designed in such a way that it can be easily changed from 8 lane to 12 lane if needed. Apart from this, this expressway of 1350 km will go through 20 km reserve forest. That is, the trees will have to be cut at least.
