New Delhi: Actor Salman Khan, through his lawyer, has issued a reply in the civil suit that he filed against his neighbor for defaming him in an interview with a YouTube channel. The actor has now filed a reply in the court on Thursday asking Ketan Kakkad, the owner of the land near Salman’s Panvel farmhouse, not to drag religion and family into the matter.
As per reports in the agencies, the actor’s lawyer Pradeep Gandhi read out a portion of Kakkar’s post and interview in court. He said the neighbor had accused the actor of ‘burying film stars in his farmhouse’, having links with the D gang, and also commented on his religious identity in a YouTube interview. The lawyer also read out Salman’s reply to Ketan and said that his allegations are only his imagination, an attack on his family and an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
Salman’s reply was quoted as: “Without proper evidence, all these allegations are a figment of the defendant’s imagination. In a property dispute, why are you tarnishing my personal reputation? Why are you bringing religion? My mother is a Hindu, my father is a Muslim and my brothers are married to Hindus. We celebrate all festivals.”
The superstar questioned the veracity of such information being circulated on several social media and video platforms. Salman said that it is easy to malign someone’s image on social media just by speaking or writing anything. He also said that he is not planning to join politics. He said, “You are an educated person…the ones making such allegations are not goons. The easiest thing nowadays is to gather a few people, come on social media and vent all your anger.”
The popular actor has made YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Google parties to the lawsuit, seeking to block ‘defamatory content’ from all platforms and websites. He also seeks a standing order prohibiting Ketan Kakkar from posting any defamatory material about him or his assets. Both the parties live in Mumbai and have land in Panvel in Raigad district of Maharashtra.
