New Delhi: The production unit of the Indian Railways – Railway Coach Factory, Kapurthala has recently introduced the first Linke Hoffman Busch (LHB) AC Three Tier economy class coach of the Indian Railways (IR). The test operation has been successfully completed.
It is a new version of LHB AC three-tier coach, which has the following features: –
Use of less space for electrical panels on the passenger deck, this will provide additional space for the passenger to use.
Increase in passenger capacity, now 83 berths.
Provision of PWD-friendly toilets with a capable entrance and coach and wheelchair accessibility with wheelchair access for PwDs, compliance with the Sugam Bharat Abhiyaan norms.
Separate retractable-vent facilities in AC ducting for all berths.
Modular design of seat and berth for comfort, reduced weight and better maintenance.
Increase in passenger comfort by turning snack tables in a vertical and transverse direction, decreasing the chance of injury; Holders for holding water bottles, mobile phones and magazines.
Different reading lights and mobile charging points for each berth.
Convenience and superior design of the ladder to reach the middle and upper berths.
Additional space by increasing the height of the middle and upper berths.
Improved design of Indian and Western style toilets.
Comfortable and beautiful entrance.
Light marker in the corridor.
Light to indicate berth, which is connected to night light and illuminated berth number indicator.
Use of EN 45545-2HL3 material ensuring compliance with world benchmark in terms of fire safety standards.
These LHB economy class coaches will, after necessary approval, be included in all mail / express trains (except Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto and Jan Shatabdi etc. special trains) plying with LHB coaches.
