Indian Railways set target of complete electrification of large rail line network by 2023

New Delhi: Union Minister for Railways, Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal inaugurated the newly electrified Dighavada-Bandikui rail section of North-Western Railway and the first on this newly electrified rail route in a program organized at Dighavada station. Emphasizing the works of Railways, Goyal said that the electrification work of Kota-Mumbai line in Rajasthan was done 35 years ago and after that no one paid attention to this area. While working on this in railways, the target of electrification of entire railway lines across the country has been set. Referring to Rajasthan, he said that there was no electrification work in the region till 2009-2014 whereas in the last five and a half years (till September 2020) 1433 km of rail route has been electrified i.e. 240 per year The km railroad was electrified.

Goyal said that there has been a change in thinking during these years and there has been a change in the way we work. Today after the electrification of this rail route, the electrification work of Rewari to Ajmer has been completed and now electrified trains from Delhi to Ajmer will also start soon. After the operation of these trains, diesel trains will stop running so that pollution will be controlled and there will be no dependence on imported fuel from outside and electricity generated in self-supporting India will operate trains, this will also save significant revenue. Apart from this, the average speed of trains will also increase and there will be development of industries, farming-based businesses and the development of villagers and farmers. To provide convenience to the farmers, Kisan Rail is being operated by the railways to transport their agricultural produce. The government is committed to the progress of farmers.

Goyal appealed to everyone to follow Kovid guidelines, wear masks, keep social distancing and take care of hygiene.
