IRCTC will upgrade its website soon, users can easily book tickets

New Delhi: To improve the e-ticketing facilities, the Ministry of Railways is going to upgrade the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) e-ticketing website and app. This will enable the passengers to book tickets and tickets can be booked early. The Ministry of Railways is planning to make several changes on the website and app for this.

Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that all the facilities will be available on IRCTC’s e-ticketing website and app for ease of booking tickets by passengers. It will be quite simple and passengers will be able to book tickets with high speed.

Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal reviewed the upgradation of the work being done for the e-ticketing system. The Minister expressed the wish that the e-ticketing website should have complete facilities for passengers related to their rail journey.

IRCTC ticketing website provides online passenger reservation facility in trains operated by Indian Railways.

Since 2014, emphasis has been placed on improving public experience in ticketing as well as travel facilities. The minister felt that the IRCTC website remains the first point of contact for citizens traveling by Indian Railways and the experience should be friendly and convenient. Under the new Digital India, more and more people are now moving towards booking tickets online instead of going to reservation counters and hence the IRCTC website really needs to double its efforts to continuously upgrade itself.

Officials from RB, CRIS (CRIS) and IRCTC assured the Minister that every effort would be made to further improve the functioning of the website.
