Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off the Kanpur Metro train for trial run in the city today (November 10, 2021).
District Magistrate Visakh G Iyer told that the program will be held at the Metro Depot in Government Polytechnic and the Chief Minister will flag off the Metro train for trial run.
The District Magistrate said that Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) Managing Director Kumar will apprise Adityanath about the Metro project.
Sources said the trial run, which was earlier scheduled for mid-November, has been pushed forward.
Two sets of Metro trains are already standing at the depot, and one of them will be used for testing. An official said that each train has three coaches.
Metro services are expected to be opened to the public on December 31. The official said that 12 metro trains will run between Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and Motijheel.
The first phase of work between IIT-Kanpur and Motijheel is almost over, the DM said, adding that the metro train will run over a nine-km-long distance in the first phase.
Metro work of the second phase will be done between Motijheel and Transport Nagar.
After the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister will hold a meeting with district and health officials to review the efforts to combat Zika virus in the district at the auditorium of the Kanpur Development Authority, an official said.
Adityanath will also visit the Zika virus-affected areas and meet the family members of the virus-infected persons to take stock of the health facilities being provided to them and the cleanliness drive in the area.
