Khalistan Row: Indian ambassador to Britain stopped from entering Scotland Gurudwara

New Delhi: Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Vikram Doraiswami, was stopped from entering a Gurudwara in Glasgow, Scotland. According to a purported video posted on the Instagram channel of ‘Sikh Youth UK’, a man allegedly supporting Khalistan was seen stopping Doraiswami from entering the Glasgow Gurdwara on Albert Drive.

A man can be heard saying in the video, “…they are harming Sikhs in Canada and other places, every Sikh should protest against any Indian ambassador as we have done here Did it in Glasgow.”

This incident has come to light amid the ongoing diplomatic dispute between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18. ‘Sikh Youth UK’ claimed that Indian officials are banned from officially visiting the Gurdwara.

The video shows two people near the High Commissioner’s car in the parking area. One of them is seen trying to open the car door, which is locked from inside. The purported video shows the High Commissioner’s car leaving the Gurudwara complex.

The video shows another person speaking on camera saying that any Indian ambassador or any Indian government official visiting the Gurudwara would be given similar treatment.

“We know what games they’re playing, what’s happening in Canada. According to news agency ANI report, the Canadian PM has openly condemned India and expelled Indian diplomats.

A pro-Khalistan activist told the daily that the Indian High Commissioner was to hold a meeting with the Gurudwara Committee of the Glasgow Gurudwara on Albert Drive. “Some people came and told him he was not welcome and he left. There was a slight altercation. I don’t think the Gurdwara Committee is very happy with what happened. But Indian officials are not welcome in any Gurudwara in Britain.”

“We are fed up with UK-India collusion. British Sikhs are being targeted due to recent tensions following the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. It is also related to Avtar Singh Khanda and Jagtar Singh Johal.”

Reacting to this, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa strongly condemned the incident. He said, “I strongly condemn it (that Vikram Doraiswami was allegedly stopped from entering a Gurudwara in Scotland)…Any person of any religion or community can come here (Gurudwara)…We that There is no religion which believes in violence” We are among those who are protectors of humanity… Sikhs are protectors… PM Modi has appreciated the work of our community… Sikhs are represented everywhere in the world… For Sikhs in the world The safest place is in India…”
