LAC firing on both sides after 45 years, China blames India

New Delhi: The Line of Actual Control (LAC) in East Ladakh has been fired by Indian and Chinese troops. Confirming the incident, top sources attached to the Indian government have said that the situation is currently under control. China claims that Indian troops have fired earlier. This is the first firing incident since 1975 on the India-China border. China had alleged that Indian troops fired for a warning near Pangong Tso Lake in eastern Ladakh, in which they retaliated.

LAC has been under tension between soldiers of both countries for a long time. Efforts are being made from both sides to normalize the situation at the military and diplomatic level, but tensions between the two countries have increased for the past one week. Especially since India established its dominance over strategic peaks and routes along the southern shores of Pagong Lake last week, armies of the two countries have been deployed face-to-face in a firing range. The Chinese military is troubled by the deployment and retaliation of Indian troops. Several rounds of talks have also taken place between the two countries amid tense atmosphere.

The Chinese spokesman said that Chinese border defense troops were forced to retaliate to stabilize the situation. Colonel Zhang Shuili of the Chinese PLA Western Theater Command said in a late night statement that we request the Indian side to immediately stop the dangerous operation and have demanded strict scrutiny and punishment of the firing troops. The Chinese Ministry of Defense says that India has again illegally crossed the LAC and fired at it, carrying out the provocation.

Global Times, a Chinese government newspaper, has blamed the entire incident on India. He says the Indian army illegally crossed the LAC and entered the southern shore of Pangong Lake. Indian soldiers opened fire first. In response, the Chinese army had to forcibly fire. Claimed a clash near Pangog So, quoting a spokesman for the Chinese Army’s Western Theater Command. According to the information, the situation is under control at present.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is leaving for a four-day visit to Russia today amidst ongoing tension from China. The foreign minister will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting there. On 10 September, Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Yag Yi are scheduled to hold talks in Moscow. Earlier on Friday, talks were held in Moscow between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chinese Defense Minister Wei Feng about the border.
