Most wanted Pakistani terrorist Abu Zarar killed in Kashmir’s Poonch: Indian Army

Srinagar: Security forces have claimed to have killed most wanted Pakistani terrorists Abu Zarar in Surankote area of Poonch. In an ongoing operation, the Indian Army has claimed to have killed the most wanted Pakistani terrorist in an ongoing encounter near Bufaliyaz in Surankote area of Poonch district.

According to the army handout, “The terrorists tried to escape by firing on the security forces, but this foreign terrorist was killed in retaliatory firing by the security forces while his accomplice is absconding. Recoveries from terrorist including AK- 47, four Magazine (loaded), a grenade and some Indian currency. The recovered material clearly reveals Pakistan’s involvement with this terrorist.”

In this particular case, for the first time in August this year, a Pakistani trained and sponsored foreign terrorist was detected. The army said it was probably part of Pakistan’s efforts to revive militancy in the south of the Pir Panjal region.

While the terrorist and his accomplices have been fleeing in deep forests for the past few months, their need for food, clothing and communication (mobiles) compelled them to approach the civilian population. The Indian Army, in a joint effort with the JKP, monitored this mobile communication on an almost real-time basis, while the local people provided vital information on the movement of suspects.

This enabled the security forces to encircle the terrorists, forcing them to move to the higher reaches of the Pir Panjal ranges despite the onset of winter.

As the terrorists were isolated and moved away from civilian populated areas, the Indian Army and JKP launched a clinical operation in the Behramgala area on receiving specific inputs from the local people.

“The joint efforts of the Indian Army and J&K Police are showing positive results in Rajouri, Poonch area due to the unwavering support of the local people. This is the eighth terrorist to be eliminated this year,” the Army official said. Recently, a dreaded terrorist Haji Arif, the guide on the Line of Control in Rajouri Sector, was also removed.
