NIC and CBSE will launch ‘CollabCAD’ software on 14 January

New Delhi: National Informatics Center (NIC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and Ministry of Education, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, is jointly launching CollabCAD Software, a computer-enabled software system – CollabCAD is a collaborative network Providing 2D product design and 3D product design for students and teachers of engineering graphics courses.

The National Informatics Center (NIC), CBSE, and the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog will also jointly release a detailed e-book on CollabCAD 3D Demodeling. This e-book 1.0 is set to be released publicly through CollabCard Portal and will guide cadres, people, and professionals who have ventured into the field of engineering graphics to understand and use CollabCAD Software. It has been designed and invented by NIC, New Delhi Kakolabkadgroup.

The initiative aims to provide a great platform for students across the country to create and innovate 3D digital designs with a free flow of creativity and imagination. The software will enable students to collaborate across designs across networks and simultaneously access data from that design for storage and visualization.

Under the leadership of Manoj Ahuja, Chairman of CBSE, IAS will introduce CollabCAD Software (subject code 046) for engineering graphics at senior school level for Classes XI and XII. CollabCAD Software will be used for practical work as part of a subject course to create various types of 3D design and 2D drawing. Students from over 140 schools and Middle East (affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi) across the country will have access to this software, which can be used to understand practical projects and concepts in engineering graphics.

The students will be signing an MoU for a period of 10 (ten) years in the presence of Mr. Ajay Sahni, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, NIC, and CBSE for CollabCAD software assistance and training to students and engineering graphics teachers of CBSE affiliated schools. The purpose of this MoU is to develop human resources and skills around CollabCAD Software and popularize CollabCAD Software among the student’s teachers.

National Informatics Center (NIC), Director General of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Nita Verma, and Mission Director-Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog Mr. R. Ramanan will start with Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) Community Day. It was released in accordance with the requirements of the ‘Tinker from Home’ campaign for students from more than 5,000 schools across the country. The CollabCAD 3D Design Challenge was announced by AIM two days after it was released for students to create 3D digital models using the CollabCAD Geometric Module. The response was encouraging, and the results of the challenge were announced in July.

The event will be webcast on the NIC webcast (https://webcast.gov.in/nic) platform and NIC social media platforms on 14 January 2021 at 11:00 AM.
