Pakistan fired heavily on LoC, 3 Indian soldiers martyred

Srinagar: Three Indian Army personnel were killed and five were injured in separate incidents during heavy shelling by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The army gave a befitting reply to the enemy shelling. The army said that Pakistan used mortars to target Indian checks.

The defense spokesman said today that the ceasefire violation began last night when Pakistan opened fire in Mankot and Krishnaghati sectors without cause. This morning, two soldiers were killed in a shootout by Pakistan in Naugam sector of Kupwara district in North Kashmir. A third soldier was killed in an overnight shootout in Poonch. The injured soldiers were taken to the hospital for treatment. For the last few days, Pakistan has been targeting the villages of Poonch.

On September 5, a soldier was killed and two others, including an officer, were injured in a shootout by Pakistan near the Line of Control in Sundarbani sector of Rajouri district, officials said. On 2 September, a JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer) was martyred in another ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Army in Kerry sector of Rajouri.

In the last eight months, more than 3,000 ceasefire violations have been committed by Pakistan, the highest in 17 years. In September, the ceasefire was violated by Pakistan 47 times.

Tension persists on the LoC following heavy shelling from Pakistan. Pakistani Army personnel also fired shells on the residential areas here. A high alert has been sounded on the LoC and the border following the Line of Control. Apart from this, villagers have been taken to a safe place in all the residential areas along the Line of Control.
