Pakistan: Protests in PoK demanding reunification of Gilgit Baltistan with India

Muzaffarabad: The people of Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) are now demanding reunification with India, fed up with the discriminatory policies of the Government of Pakistan, which has been exploiting the region for several decades.

A massive rally in Gilgit Baltistan demanding the reopening of the Kargil Road and reunification with their fellow Baltis can be seen in the Kargil district of the Union Territory of Ladakh in India.

Meanwhile, criticizing the Pakistan administration for its policies against Gilgit Baltistan, former PoK PM Raja Farooq Haider urged to end the land occupied by the security forces in the Himalayan region.

Addressing a public meeting in Poonch district’s Hazira subdivision organized by the Awami Action Committee – an alliance of various political, religious and trade associations in the area, he called for safeguarding the rights of the local people.

He said, “I want to tell the Government of Pakistan not to evict the people of Gilgit-Baltistan from the Khalsa (Crown) land on which they have been living since the time of the Dogra rule.”
