PM Modi lays foundation stone of lighthouse projects, houses at low cost

New Delhi: The foundation of Light House Projects (LHP) under the Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India) was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today through video conferencing at six locations across the country. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined the foundation stone along with Prime Minister Modi. Under this scheme, about 1040 people of Lucknow will get houses at low cost. The allotment of the flat will be done as per the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban and through Duda an open lottery will be conducted under the chairmanship of DM.

According to sources, the Prime Minister will also announce the winners under the Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerators – India (ASHA-India) and will give annual awards for excellence in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) mission.

The LHP will be constructed in Indore, Rajkot, Chennai, Ranchi, Agartala and Lucknow, which will include around 1,000 houses at each location with associated infrastructure facilities.

PM Modi will issue a certificate course on innovative construction technologies called NAVARITIH (New, Affordable, Legitimate, Research Innovation Technology for Indian Housing) and a collection of 54 innovative housing construction technologies.

He said, “LHP for the first time in the country showcases the best of new-age alternative global technologies, materials and processes in such a large-scale construction sector. They are being constructed under GHTC-India, which envisages providing an eco-system to adopt innovative technologies in the housing construction sector as a whole.

Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerators – India’s initiative aims to promote domestic research and entrepreneurship by providing incubation and acceleration support to potential future technologies. Under this initiative, five ASHA-India centers have been established to provide incubation and acceleration support.

The PMAY-U mission was designed to achieve the vision of ‘Housing for All by 2022’. To recognize the outstanding contribution by states, union territories, urban local bodies and beneficiaries, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has presented annual awards for excellence in the implementation of PMAY-Urban. Winners of the PMAY (Urban) Award-2019 will be awarded during the program.
