Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani will be honored with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
In an ex-post, the Prime Minister also said that he congratulates LK Advani for this.
PM Narendra Modi tweeted, “I am very happy to inform that Shri Lal Krishna Advani ji will be honored with Bharat Ratna. I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being given this honour.”
He said, “One of the most respected politicians of our times, his contribution to India’s development is unforgettable. His life ranges from working at the grassroots level to serving the country as our Deputy Prime Minister.”
“He also distinguished himself as our Home Minister and Minister of Information and Broadcasting. His parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary and full of rich insights,” the Prime Minister wrote.
Prime Minister Modi also shared two pictures of himself with the veteran BJP leader.
In another post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, “Advani ji’s decades-long service in public life has been marked by an unwavering commitment to transparency and integrity, setting an exemplary standard in political ethics. He has also contributed to national integration. and cultural revival.”
He tweeted, “Him being awarded the Bharat Ratna is a very emotional moment for me. I will always consider it my good fortune that I got countless opportunities to interact with him and learn from him.”
Lal Krishna Advani served as the 7th Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004. He is one of the co-founders of the BJP and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Advani is also the longest serving Home Minister and the longest serving Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
He was the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate during the 2009 general elections.
