A stinging editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana today targeted Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, indicating that relations between Maharashtra’s ruling allies are rapidly changing. If Sachin Waze was running a racket from the Mumbai police commissioner’s office, why was the Home Minister not aware of it, the Saamna article asked.
The editorial comes a day after Pawar and his party colleague Praful Patel met Union Minister Amit Shah at a farmhouse in Ahmedabad. Mr Shah has not confirmed the meeting, but has issued a cryptic comment that “everything should not be made public”.
Though the Sena had initially wanted Mr Deshmukh out after the controversy over former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh’s corruption allegations, it changed stance after Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar’s firm stance against his removal.
Titled “The character of dubbing mahjong, the botched damage control” – in the editorial this morning, Mr. Deshmukh said “I forgot about the fast required as home minister”.
“Sharad Pawar handed over the post to Deshmukh after persuading Jayant Patil and Dilip Valsay-Patil,” the editorial said. This is the dignity and return of the post. No person is sitting on this post. The home minister of the state can work by being surrounded by innate characters ”.
The editorial reads, “If a junior officer (man) like Sachin Waze was running a collection racket, then why did the Home Minister know this? The Maharashtra Government’s character has been questioned many times over the past few months?” Former Mumbai Police Chief Param Bir Singh has charges against Mr. Deshmukh who opened a political Pandora box.
The editorial has upset NCP. Senior party leader and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar – Sharad Pawar’s nephew – said no one should “spoil the game” in a coalition government.
He said, “Allotment of counter berths is the right of the head of every political party (in coalition). The three party government is functioning properly.”
The crackdown has also come despite the efforts of the Tripura State Government amid numerous controversies following the Mukesh Ambani explosives.
In the wake of the alleged misbehavior of the case in place of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Anil Deshmukh later worked as a Lashkarpin with Mumbai Police constable Sachin Waze to collect crores of crores from the city’s town and restaurants. said. Said the alleged operation.
Mr. Waze is now under arrest for his alleged role in planting the car on the city’s Carmichael Road. A Shiv Sena member was allegedly reinstated in the police force at the behest of Chief Minister Kotav Thackeray.
Since last week, both Shiv Sena and NCP have repeatedly assured that the government will complete its five-year term.
