Former media executive Indrani Mukerjea, accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012, has written a letter to the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) stating that Sheena Bora is alive. In her letter, she has written that she had recently met a woman in jail who said she had met Sheena Bora in Kashmir. That’s why she has asked CBI to search for Sheena Bora in Kashmir.
In a major development, ex-INX Media executive, Indrani Mukerjea has written a letter to CBI Director Subodh Jaiswal, claiming that her daughter Sheena Bora is alive and in Jammu and Kashmir, report sources say.
Mukherjee, accused of Bora’s murder, has claimed in the letter that she found a woman in jail who said she had met Sheena Bora in Kashmir. Murkarji will file an application in the Bombay High Court along with the letter on December 28, urging the CBI to search for Bora in the union territory.
In November, the Bombay High Court had refused bail to Mukherjee in the Sheena Bora murder case. Mukherjee has argued that the case was based on the statement given by his driver Shyamvar Rai after he became a government witness. Mukherjee’s team sought bail citing health issues as her health had deteriorated after being in jail for a long time. The Bombay High Court has rejected his bail on several occasions. Mukherjee has also been arrested in connection with the INX Media scam, for which she has now become a government witness.
Earlier, in 2020, Indrani’s ex-husband and co-accused Peter Mukerjea was released on bail after four years of imprisonment in the Sheena Bora murder case. While Mukherjee was arrested for his involvement in the conspiracy to murder his step-daughter Sheena Bora, the Bombay High Court ruled that there was no evidence to show his prima facie involvement in the crime. His ex-wife Indrani Mukerjea has been in Byculla jail since her arrest in 2015 for the alleged murder of their daughter.
The CBI has already said that it will conclude further probe in the Sheena Bora case after filing three chargesheets and two supplementary chargesheets in the names of Indrani Mukerjea, her driver Shyamvar Rai and her ex-husbands Sanjeev Khanna and Peter Mukerjea.
Indrani Mukerjea, Peter Mukerjea and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna are the main accused in the murder of Bora on April 24, 2012. The alleged killing of Sheena Bora came to the fore in 2015 when Indrani Mukerjea’s driver Shyamwar Rai was arrested in another case. After revealing that he helped Indrani Mukerjea and Khanna dispose off her body, he turned an approver in the case. Indrani Mukerjea and Khanna were arrested by the CBI in April 2015. As per the CBI, Peter Mukerjea entered into a criminal conspiracy along with his then-wife Indrani and Khanna to murder Bora.
