Successful test of indigenous laser anti-tank guided missile

New Delhi: The indigenously manufactured Laser Guided Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) was successfully tested on 1 October 2020 by penetrating a long range target. This test was carried out from MBT Arjun at KK Ranges (ACC&S) in continuation of the successful test conducted on 22 September 2020.

ATGM deploys an ordered heat warhead to penetrate Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) protected armored vehicles in the range of 1.5 to 5 km. It has been developed with multi-platform launch capability and is currently undergoing technical evaluation test with 120 mm rifled gun from MBT Arjun.

Its Laser Guided Missile is developed by Pune-based Armament R&D Establishment (ARDE) in collaboration with High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) and Dehradun-based Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE).

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO for this successful achievement. The Chairman of DD R&D and DRDO congratulated the personnel of DRDO for this achievement which paved the way for Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s resolve for self reliant India.
