Supertech says Noida Authority approves construction plan of Twin Towers; SC order came on technical grounds

Realty firm Supertech on Sunday said that the twin towers located in Noida, to be demolished this afternoon, were constructed as per the building plan approved by the Noida authority and no deviations were made.

Supertech CMD RK Arora had said in a public statement that the Noida authority had approved the construction plans of the project in 2009, including two towers Apex and Cayenne, strictly adhering to the then prevailing building bylaws declared by the state. government.

The two towers – one with a height of 103 meters and the other 97 meters tall – are located in Sector 93A of Noida. Arora also said that the demolition of these two towers will not affect his other real estate projects, which will be given to home buyers. More than 3,700 kg of explosives are being used in this operation.

The nearly 100-metre-high Apex and Cayenne towers were demolished at 2.30 pm on Sunday following a Supreme Court order that found their construction within the Emerald Court complex in violation of norms.

Arora said: “No deviation was made from the building plan and the building was constructed after making full payment to the authority. However, the Hon’ble Supreme Court has found the construction not satisfactory on technical grounds and accordingly decided to demolish both. Orders have been issued for the tower.”

The company has entrusted the demolition work to world-renowned agency Edphis Engineering, which has expertise in safe demolition of high-rise buildings, the statement said.
