Supreme Court refuses to stop survey of mosque in Mathura Krishna Janmabhoomi land dispute

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the Allahabad High Court’s Thursday order allowing preliminary survey of the Shahi Idgah complex adjacent to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

The Allahabad High Court on December 15 allowed preliminary survey of the Eidgah complex by a three-member team of advocate commissioners under court monitoring.

“The Supreme Court has refused to stay the proceedings and as far as the challenge to the transfer order is concerned, the Supreme Court has fixed the matter as January 9… The High Court order will stand and the High Court will hear the matter. It will proceed further and the Hindu side’s lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain said, “There is no stay by the Supreme Court.”
