Sushant Singh Rajput, who switched from television to films in 2013, once spoke about his backup plan in case he fails to sign a film for his debut. He said that he would make his own ‘films’ and to do so, he would also run a canteen in Mumbai’s Film City, make a documentary on it and act in it.

Sushant passed away in June 2020 at the age of 34. He was found dead at his Mumbai residence. Friday is his 36th birth anniversary. The actor was last seen in the film Dil Bechara, which was released just weeks after his death.

In a 2015 interview with rediff.com, Sushant had opened up about moving from TV to Bollywood and said: “When I left television, people told me, you are pursuing a course in filmmaking, but What if you don’t get the film? I said, ‘I will make my own films’. I had decided that if that happens I would start a canteen in Film City and I would buy a camera and read about the canteen and the features in it I will be making my own short film. And I know I will be as excited for it as I am now.”

Sushant Singh Rajput became a household name for his role in Ekta Kapoor’s TV show Pavitra Rishta. He dated his co-star Ankita Lokhande for several years before separating. In 2013, Sushant forayed into Bollywood with Kai Po Che!, Since then, he has appeared in Detective Byomkesh Bakshi!, Raabta, M.S. Acted in movies like Dhoni: The Untold Story, and Chhichhore. After his death, Chhichhore won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
