New Delhi: There are often reports where humans are imprisoned for years. One such shocking incident has come to light, where three siblings were kept locked in a dark room. All three siblings were freed with the help of an NGO. According to an India Today report, the case is from Rajkot, Gujarat, where these three siblings remained locked in a dark room for almost a decade. All three siblings between the ages of 30 and 42 are fully educated and have a university degree. He is said to be suffering from mental illness.
According to his father, both brothers and sister locked themselves in this room after their mother’s death. But other people in the neighborhood claim that his father was superstitious and locked his family in the room to save him from the black magic.
All three were discovered following information by the NGO Saathi Seva Group’. These NGOs work for the homeless. Siblings – Amrish Mehta (42), Meghna Mehta (39) and Bhavesh Mehta (30) were found sleeping on the floor. He was found to be in a severely malnourished condition with tangled hair and a long beard.
His father Naveenbhai Mehta, who arrived at his home shortly after the NGO officials, revealed that his children have been in such a situation since their mother’s death almost 10 years ago.
The father said that his elder son Amrish was a practicing lawyer with a BA, LLB degree, while daughter Meghna (39) is an MA in Psychology. His youngest son Bhavesh has a bachelor’s degree in economics and was a promising cricketer.
Navinbhai Mehta said that after his mother became ill in 1986, all three of her children stopped going out. He died six years later, completely isolated from the world and locked himself in a room.
He told that every day he used to keep food outside the room. The father also claimed that some people say that some relatives cast black magic on him.
Jalpa Patel of the ‘Saathi Seva Group’ told the agency that due to their imprisonment, all three needed immediate care, the NGO official said that with the help of the father the siblings were brought out and bathed and their hair and beard was cleaned after which he was given new clothes. Patel told that they are planning to relocate these three sisters and brothers to a place where they can get better food and treatment.
No police complaint has been filed yet.
