Twitter Shows Leh As Part Of China, India Warns

New Delhi: The Indian government has issued a strict warning to Twitter to show Leh on the map of China. Sources in the government said, “Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir are integral and inseparable parts of India governed by the constitution of India.” In a letter to Twitter Inc. CEO Jack Dorsey, the government expressed its disapproval over the “misrepresentation of the map of India” and asked the company to “respect the sensitivity of Indian citizens”.

Sources in the ministry told the agency that Sahni has written a strong letter to the Twitter CEO expressing his displeasure with the government for showing the wrong map of India. Significantly, Twitter had given the geographical location of Leh as a part of People’s Republic of China.

Sahni in her letter reminded Twitter that Leh is the headquarters of the union territory of Ladakh. The letter states that both Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir are integral and inseparable parts of India and administered by the Constitution of India. Explain that after the matter came to light, a Twitter spokesperson called it a technical flaw.

The government has asked Twitter to respect the sensitivity of Indian citizens. The government has also clearly stated that any Twitter attempt to disregard India’s sovereignty and integrity (as in the case of the map) is completely illegal and unacceptable.
