Amid tight security concerns after a blast in the Ludhiana court complex, Mohali police on Saturday searched public places in the district. Police teams along with dog squad and anti-demolition team searched markets, restaurants, malls and under-construction buildings on Saturday.
Police teams carried out checking in Zirakpur, Mohali as well as Kharar, which are emerging as night-party spots in the district. It may be mentioned that the Chandigarh Police is already implementing the orders issued by the District Magistrate in which no club, eatery or restaurant is allowed to remain open after midnight. Recently, a trend has been observed where party goers shift to Zirakpur and Mohali.
“Most party-goers shift to Mohali once Chandigarh’s business activity stops. To stop this practice, the administration has decided to shut the eateries at 11 pm,” shared a senior official of the Mohali administration.
“The checking of public places will continue in future also to ensure the safety of residents in view of the festive season,” a senior Mohali administration official said.
Senior superintendent of police, Mohali, Navjot Singh Mahal said, “Vigilance has been increased to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the district.”
He said that all the restaurants, eating joints have been asked to close by 11 pm so that the people having fun in the district are not disturbed.
