Covid-19 cases in India recorded a daily high, with 1,84,372 fresh cases reported, taking the total to 1,38,73,825 and active cases crossing the 13 lakh mark. Since 1827, 2020, the number of deaths has increased to 1,72,085 with 1,027 new deaths.
Many politicians have also tested positive for Covid-19 as the month of March was purely for election rallies, campaigns and political celebrations in four states – Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and one Union Territory – Puducherry. Four phases of West Bengal elections are yet to be held.
Large-scale rallies and campaigns were witnessed in the country due to pandemics, pandemics, where people, supporters and even some politicians were seen flouting the Covid-19 guidelines. There were no Covid-appropriate behaviors such as maintaining social distinction or wearing face masks. Even the Kumbh Mela at Haridwar in Uttarakhand saw a huge rush despite an unprecedented increase in cases of coronovirus across the country. Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that he has tested positive for Covid-19. He had isolated himself before the test results came out on Tuesday as some officials tested positive for coronaviruses after contacting him. “After the initial symptoms, I tested myself. My report is positive. I am in self-isolation and following doctors advice. I am doing virtually all the work, ”Adityanath tweeted with his official Twitter handle.
Akhilesh Yadav
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has tested positive for Covid-19. “My corona test report has come out positive. I have isolated myself and started treatment at home. Those who have come in contact with me in the last few days should get themselves investigated. They are requested to remain in isolation for a few days, ”Yadav said in a Hindi tweet on Wednesday. He recently visited Haridwar where the Kumbh Mela is going on and met various religious leaders, including Akhara Parishad President Mahant Narendra Giri, who had previously tested positive for Covid-19. On reaching Lucknow, Yadav conducted his test on Tuesday.
Ashutosh Tandon
Uttar Pradesh minister Ashutosh Tandon has also tested positive for Covid-19. “After seeing the initial symptoms of corona, I tested myself, and the report came out positive. On the advice of doctors, I have isolated myself at home. Those who have come in contact with me in the last few days should get themselves investigated.
Kailash Gehlot
Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot has tested positive for the infection, and has advised those contacting him to take necessary precautions. He also gave the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine last Wednesday. “I have tested positive for Covid-19 today. I have isolated myself. All those who come in contact with me should take necessary precautions recently, ”Gehlot tweeted on Wednesday.
Sanjeev Balyan
Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan announced on Sunday that he had tested positive for Covid-19. While campaigning for the West Bengal elections, I tested COVID-19 showing some signs. The report is positive and I isolated myself.
D Raja
On Saturday, exactly one day after the Covid-19 positive test, CPI leader D Raja was admitted to the hospital in Delhi AIIMS. He campaigned extensively in Kerala.
Pinarayi Vijayan
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also tested positive for Covid-19 on 8 April, two days after the Kerala assembly elections. He was asymptomatic and under isolation at his residence in Kannur. “I am confirmed Covid + V. Treatment will be done at Government Medical College, Kozhikode. Request those, who have been in contact with me recently, to go into self-observation, ”he tweeted.
Oommen Chandy
On 9 April, senior Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy tested positive for Covid-19 and was sent to the hospital after his condition deteriorated during the quarantine of the house.
There are also some prominent political leaders who have previously tested positive for Covid-19, but later recovered from the transition. These were – Amit Shah, Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Satyendra Jain, BS Yeddyurappa, Karti Chidambaram, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and many others.
