Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh announced that Sachin Vaze was removed from his post as an inquiry into the death of Mansukh Hiran, assistant police inspector of the crime branch of Mumbai, is pending.
Mansukh, 48, came into the limelight after his stolen SUV, a Scorpio, was abandoned near Antilia on February 25 at the home of Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani. The Mumbai Police had found 20 gelatin sticks in the vehicle. An alleged threatening letter to the Ambani family. After which, he was under intense scrutiny of the investigating agencies. Usually, there were reports of his suicide but now his wife has alleged that Sachin was the reason behind his death.
Sachin Vaze joined the Maharashtra Police Service in 1990 as a Sub-Inspector. They have faced 63 criminals so far. He recently arrested Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami from his home. The team formed to arrest Goswami was led by Sachin Vaze.

This is not the first time that Waje’s name has been associated with a controversy, he is always around them. 15 years ago, he was sentenced to death in 2003 in the custody of Khwaja Yunus. The charges include murder, destroying evidence and hiding Yunus’s body.
Vaze resigned from police in 2007, but was reinstated last year, even though a murder trial is still pending, and Vaze and his partner were not released from the charges.
Younus was 27 years old when he was arrested on 25 December 2002 in Parbhani, Maharashtra. They were held on December 2 in connection with a bomb blast at a bus station in Ghatkopar, a suburb of Mumbai, killing two people and injuring 39 people.
Yunus, a software engineer, was arrested by the Powai CID and was in police custody for a few days. His brother met him in jail and said he was “weak and unable to stand”, The Hindu reported.
Yunus died on January 6, 2003. Police said he died while trying to “escape”, a claim that was later found to be false in a subsequent investigation by the CID. An eyewitness said Yunus was tortured and assaulted in custody.
