Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia said Tirupati deputy mayor Abhinay Reddy, son of Andhra Pradesh MLA B Karunakar Reddy, had allegedly cut off water supply to Tirupati airport and employees’ residential quarters.
The Union Minister wrote on Twitter that the issue will be investigated and passengers and staff will not face any kind of inconvenience at the airport.
Jyotiraditya M Scindia wrote, “We will investigate the issue from our side and take necessary action. No more inconvenience will be caused to the passengers and staff at the airport.”
Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao had written to Jyotiraditya Scindia demanding a “high-level” inquiry into the “condemnable” incident.
This week, Tirupati airport and staff residential quarters faced water supply disruption. This happened after a dispute between Renigunta airport manager Sunil and Tirupati deputy mayor Abhinay Reddy.
Abhinay Reddy allegedly cut off the water supply after the airport authorities allegedly denied him entry into the airport.
Reddy’s is a leader of the ruling Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP). Tirupati’s Renigunta Airport is an international airport operated by the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
While it is being claimed that Abhinay Reddy had cut off the water supply, the municipal authority has maintained that the disruption in water supply was due to a blockage in the pipeline.
