Deep Sidhu’s involvement in farmer protest

Deep Sidhu came into limelight when his English speaking videos supporting the farmers’ movement went viral on social media.

Deep Sidhu was accused of being the main conspirator of the violence during the Republic Day tractor rally in 2021 by protesting farmers.

The police had also accused him of creating chaos in the Red Fort. He was arrested on February 9, 2021, but was later released on bail on April 17 after being in police custody for 70 days.

Delhi Police had filed a 3,000-page chargesheet against Deep Sidhu in the Red Fort violence case in May 2021.

In 2019, Deep Sidhu campaigned for actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol in the general election. However, later Sunny Deol distanced himself from Deep Sidhu.

Deep Sidhu was often seen openly referring to the slain Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. He was also facing a case under the SC/ST Act registered by the Jalandhar Police in October 2021 for hurting the sentiments of the Dalit community.

Deep Sidhu also formed an organization named ‘Waris Punjab Day’ in September 2021 to fight for the federal rights of the states.
