Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad Ahmed encountered : Akhilesh, Mayawati demand inquiry

Jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad and his close slave were killed by Uttar Pradesh STF during an encounter near Parichha Dam in Jhansi. Both were wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case.

“The exchange of fire took place between 12:30 pm and 1 pm. Our STF team confronted two accused, who were initially injured but were later declared brought dead. They have been identified as Ghulam and Asad,” said the Additional Director General (ADG) of Special Duty, Uttar Pradesh Police.

Till last year, there was no criminal case registered against young Asad Ahmed. But by February this year, he had become the ‘most wanted’ man in Uttar Pradesh after leading half a dozen shooters who killed Umesh Pal in broad daylight on a busy Prayagraj street on February 24.

Mohammad Ghulam, a close aide of Atiq Ahmed, was another accused in the case. In March, the Prayagraj administration fired a bulldozer to demolish his house. Ghulam HD was missing since Pal’s murder. Both Asad and Ghulam had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their heads.

“Asad and Ghulam were wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh each. They were killed in an encounter with the UP STF team,” said Special Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar.

“The UP STF team was led by Deputy SPs Navendu and Vimal. State-of-the-art foreign weapons have been recovered from the accused.
