Bihar Election: 2 killed during polling, EVM malfunction complaints at many places

Patna: Voting is going on in 71 assembly constituencies of Bihar in the first phase of 3-phase election amid tight security and guidelines of Kovid-19. The fate of more than one thousand candidates in these constituencies will be decided by more than two crore voters on Wednesday. Out of about 2.15 crore voters eligible to exercise the franchise, 1.12 crore are male, 1.01 crore are female and 599 are trans gender.

The campaign for the first phase of the high-stakes election came to an end on Monday. On the final day, major contenders including JDU leader and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav and LJP’s Chirag Paswan witnessed the election rallies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several cabinet ministers were also seen.

The DM has admitted that EVM machine malfunction at 41 polling stations of Jamui assembly seat. In many places, voters are creating ruckus at polling booths due to machine malfunction.
