Patna: In view of the increasing cases of coronavirus, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday announced a complete lockout in the state by May 15. The decision was taken after consultations with the cabinet minister and other senior officials. He stressed that the guidelines related to the lockdown would be issued by the Crisis Management Group by evening.
Nitish Kumar tweeted, “It was decided to implement the lockdown in Bihar by May 15, 2021, at present, after discussions with associate ministers and officials.” Disaster Management Group has been instructed to take action today in relation to its detailed guidelines and other activities. “
The decision came a day after the Patna High Court held that a statewide lockout was urgently needed to control Covid’s condition. A division bench of Justices Chakradhari Sharan Singh and Mohit Kumar Shah had asked Advocate General Lalit Kishore to speak to the CM regarding the lockdown.
The bench said, “It has come to the fore that the state government has failed in corona management. There is no action plan in view of the uncontrollable surge in the Corona transition in Bihar. None of the plans that you have presented are of any use and no effective steps have been taken. Despite repeated orders, you are not doing anything, everything is in front. “
Earlier, the Nitish Kumar-led government imposed curfew across the state from 9 am to 5 am till 15 May.

All shops selling vegetables, fruits, eggs, and meat will be allowed to function.
The restaurant and dhabas are expected to be operational for home delivery.
All religious places will remain closed.
Cinema halls, malls, clubs, gyms, and parks will remain closed.
Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions will remain closed.
No examination will be conducted by the state-run schools and universities until May 15.
The second wave of Bihar corono virus continues. The state crossed the five lakh mark of infection with 11,407 fresh covid cases. After 82 people died in a day in the state, the number of people who died here has increased to 2821 in the state.
