‘No papers related to case available, no relief given’: Delhi Court tells K Kavita after CBI arrest

After the CBI arrested Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K Kavita on Thursday while she was in judicial custody, her legal team moved the Rouse Avenue court. The case was heard by the duty magistrate as the regular court was on recess.

During this, the government lawyer told the court that there is no information about anyone’s arrest in the case or for any other purpose. It was also said on behalf of the government lawyer that no application is being made by the CBI in the present case.

The court said that since the government pleader has no knowledge of the application made by the applicant relating to the case before it, no relief sought through the application can be granted by the court.
Earlier today, the CBI arrested K Kavitha in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam, officials said.

Former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter was lodged in Tihar jail after she was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), he said.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials had recently interrogated Kavita inside the jail after taking permission from a special court. The BRS leader was questioned about WhatsApp chats recovered from the phone of co-accused Buchi Babu and documents related to a land deal, following which he allegedly gave bribes to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for changes in excise duty. Rs 100 crore was paid. Policy in favor of liquor lobby for the national capital.

Sources said that CBI officials had gone to Tihar jail on Saturday to interrogate Kavita on these aspects of the case.

ED had arrested Kavita (46) from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on March 15.
