Blood donation is the biggest humanitarian act, there is no greater charity than this: Governor

Raipur: Blood donation is the biggest humanitarian act. There is no greater virtue than this. This can save a person’s life. So everyone is requested to donate blood. Surely there can be no greater charity than donating blood. Your small contribution can save someone’s life. “Blood donation, great donation”. Along with doctors, blood donors also play an important role in donating life to patients. People should come forward themselves to participate in this noble act of donating blood, so that blood can be easily available to the needy patients on time. Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey said this while addressing a webinar on “Blood Donor Motivation” organized by the Department of Pathology, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day today.

The Governor said that when I was in Rotate Club, our team used to organize blood donation camps and also used to encourage people to donate blood. Vice-Chancellors, professors and students of various universities are involved in this webinar. I request them to make a list of blood donors. Provide blood donation facility in rural areas where there is no facility of blood bank, in case of illness, accident and emergency, so that lives of people can be saved in rural areas.

Ms. Uike said that blood is the basis of life. The whole system of the body is based on this. Every drop of blood is priceless. The biggest thing is that even after all the scientific research and discovery, neither its alternative has been found nor has it been possible that it can be manufactured in any laboratory. If blood is shed in an accident or there is a lack of blood in the body due to any reason, then the life of a person is in danger.

The Governor said that there is a misconception among the people that “blood donation brings weakness”. Every effort should be made to remove this misconception. By donating blood, new blood cells are formed, which have more oxygen carrying capacity, due to which our physical labor power increases. After donating blood, there is no weakness of any kind in the body, but the chances of heart disease in people who donate blood are very less. People should donate blood on that day to make their important days memorable. There has been a decrease in blood donation due to the fear of infection in the Corona period. Also, due to some instructions after vaccination, they are not donating blood. In such a situation, there is a feeling of loss of blood. I urge people to come forward and donate blood. This is great charity.

The Governor said that if people donate blood voluntarily, then there will never be a shortage of blood in the country and lives of many people can be saved. In order to encourage blood donation, social institutions and educational institutions will also have to come forward and create awareness among the general public about blood donation.

In the program, Secretary of Red Cross Society Chhattisgarh, Sonmani Bora highlighted the role of Red Cross Society and the importance of blood donation. On this occasion, Dr. Arvind Neral, Head of Department of Pathology of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur, Dr. Vishnu Dutt, Dean of Medical College, Vice Chancellors of various universities were present.
